Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT)
Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) is a sophisticated method of delivering targeted radiation beams to a cancer site with a high level of precision. With IMRT, the radiation dose can be intensified or reduced in parts so as to target the tumor three dimensionally. Moreover, IMRT minimizes beam exposure to surrounding healthy regions. IMRT is commonly used for the following disease sites:
- Prostate
- Breast
- Lung
- Head & Neck
- Brain
- Gynecological
- Gastrointestinal
- Previously irradiated tumors
